content ideation

Potential customers who are already interested in your product. Content that converts describes a content strategy focused on helping your customers. We have developed strategies at SocialSEO to help companies identify the types of content ideation that attract potential customers, and how they can revise their strategy in order to narrowly focus on those that will convert into sales.

How to identify content topics that convert

1. Understanding your customers’ pain points is a valuable way to research your team. They can learn what they need, want or find difficult. What potential problems could arise if they do not have software like yours? What is slowing down their software solution if it doesn’t have the same features as yours? If your customers are unhappy with the product they use or don’t even have one, you can learn what they’re looking for when they search online for a solution.

2. Create content that addresses pain points. Rather than creating ideas based on your product, focus your brainstorming efforts on the specific problems of your leads. Are they looking for time-saving hacks? They want a more customized solution to meet their needs. Your team can come up with many ideas. But make sure that the main topics focus on these pain points. If you focus only on your product, the ideas may feel more “salesy” than practical. It may seem like an odd approach, but the greater your focus on the problems your customers are facing, the easier it will be to link the content to your product.

3. Choose keywords according to intent. Our last tip for creating content that converts involves identifying specific keywords that address the pain points of your customers. Keywords bridge the gap between what customers want and what you offer. You should now have a list with ideas for content that is useful and a better understanding of what your customers want. Next, find keywords that have a high search volume and satisfy the customer’s intent. It is important to start with keyword ideas that are relevant, as readers will be able to tell if the resource has been written solely for SEO. To complete this step, we suggest using a tool for keyword research such as Google Ads Keyword Planner. Let the content drive the keywords. Use your keywords in a way that is both easy to read and useful.

3. Choose keywords based upon these ideas. Readers can tell if the resource is written solely for SEO purposes and not intended to be read. You can find related keywords by brainstorming before you start. This puts the horse in front of the cart. The content (content ideation) should drive the keywords, not the other way around.

Diagnose issues with content ideation

1. The wrong target audience: You can sometimes write great content and reach people who do not have the power to decide whether or not they want to buy. The solution: Take note of the types of leads that are generated by your posts. Realign your brainstorming with your target buyer persona and keep them in mind when you’re generating ideas.

2. You’re not generating enough traffic: Even though your posts are excellent, they may not be read. What’s the solution? Consider posting on social media more often, interlinking your posts and including more high-level keyword phrases for increased organic search traffic.

3. Not Converting At a High Rate – Some posts don’t seem able to convert at all, despite high traffic and reaching your targeted audience. Solution: Study the posts that have the best conversion rates, and try to emulate them. Use a usability test to see if it’s easy to click through from your blog to product sales pages. You might have a broken hyperlink or a simple adjustment that would make it easier to explore sales.
